# Evaluation of compliance with the methodology

Various criteria must be assessed to ensure that **the assessment meets the methodological requirements**. The criteria are defined below, along with the specific expectations for each of them.

For the Bilan Carbone®, direct links to the method are made. Requirements vary depending on the organisation's maturity level, with the initial level being the minimum to be met.

On assessment renewal

**For the Regulatory GHG Assessment:** Renewal is set at 3 years for public legal entities and 4 years for private legal entities.

**For the Initial and Standard Bilan Carbone®:** The assessment must be renewed at least every 4 years.

**For the Advanced Bilan Carbone®:** The assessment must be renewed at least every year.

*If this is a first assessment, this criterion is not to be evaluated.*

On the operational boundary

**For the Regulatory GHG Assessment:** All direct emissions are taken into account. The materiality threshold, allowing all significant indirect emissions to be taken into account, must not be lower than 80%. If it falls below 80%, justification is expected (according to the methodology in its [version 5](https://www.bilancarbone-evaluation.com/guide-devaluation-des-bilans-en/resources/bibliography#methode-pour-la-realisation-des-bilans-demissions-de-gaz-a-effet-de-serre-v5)).

The categories are allocated according to the specifications of the methodology in its version 5.
