Assessment process for bilan evaluations

This section presents the assessment process for Bilan Carbone® assessments as well as the critical review of assessments according to various frameworks such as regulatory GHG Assessments, CSRD ESRS E1, etc.

Evaluation process

To have your assessment evaluated, it is necessary to sign a tripartite contract with a certified evaluator and the ABC, which establishes the framework of the assignment as well as the confidentiality commitments. For more information on this subject you can contact the ABC via its contact form.

The evaluation process of the assessments is divided into 3 main steps, which involve different stakeholders:

  1. Training of evaluators:

    • Training offered by the ABC and partner training organizations, and certification by AFNOR Certification. The prerequisites to attend the training will be explained in the subsection "Evaluation team". At the end of the training, the "Evaluator's Guide", a practical guide providing step-by-step instructions on conducting an evaluation, will be provided to those trained

    • Registration by the ABC of the trained evaluator in the public directory of evaluators. This directory will be accessible through the ABC website and will indicate the number of evaluations carried out by each evaluator

  2. The evaluation:

    • Establishment of the evaluation contract between the evaluation team and the organization. Transmission of documents and files necessary for the evaluation (All documents to be submitted are specified in the Bilan Carbone® methodological guide, they must be submitted before the start of the evaluation and must be written in a language mastered by the evaluation team)

    • Evaluation, according to the procedures described in this guide and with further details provided in the "evaluator's memo". The skills required to perform it as well as possible interventions are described in the subsection "Evaluation team". Initially, the evaluation takes place in a dedicated evaluation tool, provided to trained and certified evaluators.

    • Issuance of the result to the organization. At the end of the process, the evaluator uploads the evaluation result as well as the completed evaluation tool to the evaluation platform. Once the result is received, the ABC forwards theevaluation certificate to the organisation whose assessment was evaluated.

  3. Administrative follow-up

    • The result then allows the update of the evaluators directory as well as the OCCF database which will list the assessments that have been evaluated

    • The organization may communicate about the result of the evaluation of its Bilan Carbone® while respecting the ABC communication guide. However, the organization is not obliged to communicate about the result obtained.
