Assessment process for Bilans
This section presents the assessment process for Bilan Carbone® as well as the critical review of Bilans according to different frameworks such as Regulatory GHG Assessments, CSRD ESRS E1, etc.

To have your assessment evaluated, it is necessary to sign a tripartite contract with a certified evaluator and the ABC, which establishes the framework of the mission as well as the confidentiality commitments. For more information on this subject you can contact the ABC via its contact form.
The assessment process of the bilan is divided into 3 main steps, which involve different stakeholders:
Training of evaluators:
Training offered by ABC and partner training organisations, and certification by AFNOR Certification. The prerequisites to attend the training will be explained in the subsection "Evaluation team". At the end of the training, the "Evaluator's Guide", a practical guide providing step-by-step instructions on carrying out an evaluation, will be provided to those trained
Registration by ABC of the trained evaluator in the public directory of evaluators. This directory will be accessible through the ABC website and will indicate the number of evaluations carried out by each evaluator
The evaluation:
Preparation of the evaluation contract between the evaluation team and the organisation. Transmission of documents and materials necessary for the evaluation (The full set of documents to be submitted is specified in the Bilan Carbone® methodological guide, they must be submitted before the start of the evaluation and must be written in a language mastered by the evaluation team)
Assessment, according to the procedures described in this guide and with further details available in the "evaluator's memo". The competencies required to carry it out as well as possible interventions are described in the subsection "Evaluation team". Initially, the evaluation takes place in a dedicated evaluation tool, provided to trained and certified evaluators.
Issuance of the result to the organisation. At the end of the process, the evaluator uploads the evaluation result as well as the completed evaluation tool to the evaluation platform. Once the result is received, ABC transmits theevaluation certificate to the organisation whose assessment was evaluated.
Administrative follow-up
The result then allows the update of the evaluators' directory as well as the OCCF database which will list the bilans that have been evaluated
The organisation may communicate about the result of the evaluation of its Bilan Carbone® in compliance with the ABC communication guide. The organisation is however not obliged to communicate the result obtained.
Under no circumstances will it be possible to externally communicate a result obtained through self-assessment or through an assessment of the bilan carried out by a person not trained and certified for the evaluation of Bilan Carbone®. A directory of authorised experts (trained and certified) can be found on the ABC website.
